Rowland's Castle Model Railway

Wartime 00 Gauge Layout set on the Portsmouth Direct Line

Welcome.

Welcome to the Rowland’s Castle model railway site.  The pages hopefully show the layout from several points of view, and support the model with all the necessary facts and figures that so many people ask about.  I hope you find it interesting.

The layout has been to 14 exhibition shows to date and has received a huge response with many people saying hello and getting involved with many points of interest.

I would like to thank all those people who have offered and given support to the project over the last few years, and for the donations of models and information in some of the more specialist areas and those that have placed comments in the guest book.

Some additional details have been added to the layout ready for the trip to Cardiff in October and to Wigan in December, including a couple of dozen extra military figures sitting on the footbridge at the station, village green and forest areas.

A large notice board has been constructed to show pictures of the real village buildings, model buildings under construction and homeland wartime images together with relevant text. This has been designed to visually answer the more commonly asked questions received at model shows.

We enjoyed our trip to Rowland's Castle village in early October where many people who live in the local area including two school groups from the village school were able to view the layout in the recently extended chapel on the green "The Meeting Place".  Many thanks to all those who gave valued accounts of wartime experiences in the area.

Rowlands Castle model railway is featured on a DVD with the December issue of Railway Modeller magazine out Thursday November 12th, and Continental Modeller which goes on sale Thursday November 19th.

Further magazine articles have been submitted to Railway Modeller these are due to appear in issues that will be out in the new year. These include building construction, painting and finishing and tree construction. I will place versions of these on this site later on.

Thank you for your interest.
